SWAT Less-Lethal Weapons Training for the Monterrey and San Nicolás Police
February 27, 2026At RGM Advanced, we reaffirm our commitment to the modernization and professionalization of security institutions in Mexico. As an integral part of strengthening police forces, we are proud to highlight the successful specialized training program in the use of less-lethal weapons for operational officers, instructors and cadets of the San Nicolás Police (as part of the #SanNicolásSeguro strategy) and of Monterrey's Department of Security and Citizen Protection (under the Escudo strategy).

Training to International S.W.A.T. Standards
To ensure excellent operational readiness, the training took place at the Monterrey Police Academy and stood out for being taught by former members of elite U.S. S.W.A.T. teams.
These experts brought their extensive international experience in containment and precision tactics. In addition, to ensure full technical understanding, the course had simultaneous interpretation, allowing officers to absorb every detail of the tactical strategies shared.

Cutting-Edge Technology: Pneumatic System and SALT S2 Pistols
The core of this training focused on the expert handling of the .68 caliber non-lethal system. This type of weapon uses a compressed-air pneumatic mechanism to fire projectiles, completely eliminating the use of gunpowder.
Officers were specifically trained in deploying the SALT S2 pistols, high-tech tools designed to launch projectiles with chemical agents or direct impact. These rounds have the deterrent force needed to cause temporary paralyzing pain, making it possible to neutralize threats safely and effectively.
Mastering the Gradual Use of Force
Brisilot Sandoval Sánchez, Director of Institutional Development and Police Careers, explained that the main goal of this program is for personnel to fully master the gradual use of force. Identifying the classification and function of this type of weapon, as well as the different types of projectiles, is vital for modern policing.
To achieve this, the program included rigorous theoretical and practical evaluations covering several critical areas:
- Field tactics: Precise target identification and strategic deployment in complex or riot-control scenarios.
- Technical maintenance: Training on cleaning and caring for the equipment (such as the SALT S2 pistols) to always ensure optimal operation.
- Safety and First Aid: Implementation of immediate-care protocols in case of accidental exposure to the chemical agents.
Results and Commitment to Public Safety
At the end of these thorough training sessions, the participating officers received a certificate of recognition that officially accredits their technical ability to handle this equipment. This initiative ensures that the operational growth of the police force goes hand in hand with protocols that prioritize families' peace of mind, public safety and unrestricted respect for the rule of law.
At RGM Advanced, we keep driving the adoption of technologies that protect lives and improve the tactical performance of police forces in Mexico.
